Hurricane Hutch is the first of an occasional range of Belle Media Publications.
Captain Robin Hutchison, ‘Hurricane Hutch’ became one of the youngest captains to serve on Scotland’s famous Firth of Clyde.
The book recalls the many ships he sailed and the characters he met with in a career spanning over 40 years. His time on the Clyde also chronicles a time of great social and technological change as the romance of the ‘Paddle Steamers’ gave way to the functionality of the 4,000 tonne ‘Roll on-Roll off’ car ferries.
Ships featured include PS Waverely, PS Jeannie Deans, MV Jupiter, TS Queen Mary and luxury cruise ship MV Hebridean Princess.
Kay and Richard knew it was a story that needed to be told but they also wanted to ensure the book’s look and feel was just right. They decided the best way to guarantee what they wanted was to control the process themselves – they personally selected the images, worked on the layout with their designer and organised all the stages of production and publication.
Other Belle Media titles are in the pipe-line (see Tigeropolis and Books section).
