Kay founded Belle Media in 2009 to develop creative content and IP. Projects have included non-fiction publishing, two children’s book series, a radio series, and a number of audiobooks. She is currently developing a children’s animated tv series amongst other projects.
Kay has a background in TV and Radio including BBC, Channel 4, Disney, Channel 5 and has also worked with Creative Skillset and Innovate UK. Kay also recently released her own memoir My Life in 37 Therapies which has now also been published in Spanish and as an audiobook.
Kay’s career has been wide-ranging with cross-sector experience covering radio, tv, production and operations. Before founding Belle Media, Kay held a variety of senior roles at BBC Broadcast/Red Bee Media, including Director of Client Services and Director of Partnerships responsible for developing and managing relationships with global businesses that included Microsoft, Apple, Siemens, VizRT, ITV, BBC, and Virgin Media.
She was the chair and driving force behind the media business partnership looking at the post Games use of the 2012 Olympic International Broadcast Centre and was instrumental in
shaping the vision for the site.
Kay also worked as an independent consultant on projects for Discovery Kids US, the UK Government’s Teacher’s TV and Channel 4.
Career highlights included leading the on-air launch teams at both Channel Five and the Disney Channel UK.
She started in BBC radio as Studio Manager and then as Music Producer for BBC World Service. She joined Channel 4 and progressed through a range of creative and editorial posts before setting up the UK’s first on-air Media Planning operation. Her very first job was in Marketing at Decca where she was part of the team launching the Compact Disc.
Board Member of Skillset‘s Olympic Host Broadcast Training Programme and named ELBA Legacy Champion of the Year for her work on the future use of the Olympic Media Centre.
International Board Member, UK Exec Chair and Conference Chair for Promax the organisation that promotes excellence in channel branding and promotion.
Chaired Tech London Advocates Working Groups.
Member of BAFTA.
Other interests include film music, wildlife travel and dance aerobics. She is fluent in French having studied at Nice University and has conversational Italian.
