We were all shocked and saddened to learn of John’s sudden death. He was so wonderful to work with and was a great supporter of our children’s series about paddle steamers and our maritime heritage. He brought his terrific voice-talent and unique skills to the project with great enthusiasm.

We’re delighted to announce that our celebrated picture book series The Adventures of Captain Bobo has now been turned into a wonderful Fun Kids radio series, starring the multi-talented John Sessions.
First episode is broadcast on Fun Kids at 3.15 pm on Thursday 24th Sept (repeated Saturday 26th Sept at 11.30 am) and running throughout October and November.

Kay hosted the first episode in our Belle Books & Stories Podcast series. She focused on Hurricane Hutch’s Top 10 Ships of the Clyde, the popular social history book about life on the Clyde that first introduced us to publishing.
Kay was joined by Michael McLaughlin, Head of Tourism for The Friends of TS Queen Mary to talk about the book and their work restoring this iconic vessel.

World Book Day 2019 (Thursday 7th March) was a perfect opportunity to mark the publication of the latest in the Tigeropolis series – “Caught in the Trap”.
In the run up to the big day I visited fourteen schools in just over six weeks, covering schools in and around London, in Kent and in Central Scotland. It was great to find so many children so keen to learn more about tigers and conservation.

I think my father would have been a bit surprised to learn that the Times chose to run an obituary about him last week. When the journalist contacted me to check a few facts the one thing I knew he’d have wanted me to say was that in a 46 year career that spanned deep sea and the West Coast he “never lost a life at sea”. So I was really touched when I saw that they ran that as their headline… Popular steamer captain and author nicknamed ‘Hurricane Hutch’ who was proud of the fact he never lost anyone at sea.
