2014/15 marked the 50th Anniversary of Glasgow University Student Television (GUST) so it was perhaps also fitting that one of our Alumni, Steven Moffat (Press Gang, Coupling, Dr Who, Sherlock ) was awarded the OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Steven was also one of the guest speakers at the Anniversary Dinner hosted by the current “Gusties”, as they call themselves these days. The event was also a chance for Richard to get a picture of himself with a trophy he won nearly 40 years ago – The National Student Television Association (NaSTA) Award – so long ago that it carries the name of a TV company long lost in the annals of UK Broadcasting – Westward Television (the ITV franchisee for the West Country that was based in Plymouth and broadcasting from early 1961 until 31st Dec 1981).
