We were delighted to win the 2023 IPA Audio Award for our 5-part radio series Stormy Weather at a prestigious ceremony at London’s OXO Tower. The series was presented by acclaimed transport historian and broadcaster Tim Dunn and was inspired by our first ever publication – Hurricane Hutch’s Top 10 Ships of the Clyde.

Stormy Weather celebrates the UK’s proud maritime heritage by telling the stories of 5 iconic ships… PS Waverley, PS Medway Queen, PS Kingswear Castle, MV Balmoral and TS Queen Mary.
It’s a story that not only recaptures the essence of what these ships meant to scores of holidaymakers over the years, but also celebrates tales of heroism when ships like these were called on in times of war and the sheer determination of the people that preserve these ships for future generations. We’re proud that the judges felt we had done justice to these 5 historic ships.

“Belle Media took a book that had no obvious path to audio and did something very creative and impressive. It shows how any publisher can use their content as a springboard into audio.”
